Shirayuki-fukin towels

We where send these awesome towels from our friends in Japan. Everything is so carefully crafted from the gift wrapping around the box to the folded starched towels themselves. Shirayuki-fukin literally means "white snow cloth" . The towels are very popular in japan. The cotton fabric was used to make mosquito netting in Nara prefecutre in Japan but with the introduction of screens for doors and windows after WW2 the demand for mosquito nets disappeared. These beautiful cloths are super soft and absorbent once they are 'de-starched' For more on Shirayuki-fukin photo: will sherman

Touch And Go

Touch and Go the third wakeboard I produced. I kept the video pretty short and sweet. Filming and editing is pretty time consuming, at the time I wanted just to go ride instead of film. With the introduction of cameras such the GoPro hero HD producing your own 'action sports' video has become a lot easier and cheaper.

Slack

Slack, the second wakeboard video I produced in 2002 following on from Cut Above. New 3CCD camera, a few lessons learnt and everyone riding stepped up a gear made for a pretty cool little video.

Cut Above

Cut Above was my first venture in video photography. Filmed over the summer in 2000 featuring the riding of Ben Hitch, Craig O'Meara, Paul Mew and many more of my friends. Many of these guys still rip today nearly 10 years lately! I occasionally take the wakeskate out for session but find it too brutal on the body. I really enjoyed the whole process of putting a video together. To my knowledge this was first wakeboard video to put together in the UK.

Touch and Go

Touch and Go is a wakeboard DVD I produced a few years ago. The last of three videos I shot and edited, Touch and Go was the most Sophisticated with land based and water shots. I even designed DVD artwork, the transparent case and got them professionally duplicated. Filmed mostly at Princes Water Ski Club featuring my friends many of who are still at the top of the sport.

Where The Wild Things Are

Great looking posters and awesome trailer make me hope the actual movie can live up to expectations. On general release here in Australia on 3rd Decemeber. For more on wherethewildthingsare and Jim Henson

Hydrodynamic Planing Hulls

I read an article in the surf magazine Surfer's Journal quite a few months back and became totally intrigued by these strange looking boards with unusual proportions, flat square tails and twin wooden keels. It amazing that the fresh ideas present here where invent over 50 years ago by Bob Simmons a Legendary surfer who often credited as being the father of the modern surfboard. What's exciting that these boards have inspired many to develop his concept and take a step away from today's 'modern' pointy three finned surfboard to try something different. What also caught my eye was how close this style of board looked like a bodyboard, maybe sometime in the future we'll be all riding the same board but in different stances?! Maroubra beach

Maroubra is claimed to be a locals beach but there weren't many 'locals' enjoying the fine winter weather or crisp waves. Australia's second national surfing reserve has some of the best waves to found in Sydney. Maroubra is an Aboriginal word meaning 'like thunder'. The area was first settled in 1861 and slowly developed in the 1870s as more arrived to work in the wool scouring works. photo: will sherman

GoPro HD camera concept

GoPro make some awesome digital cameras for action sports. I had some spare time a few months ago and had always thought GoPro should produce a HD version of their Hero wide camera. Low and behold they are about to launch a HD version! I put this little video together as a bit of fun and as practice using Cinema 4D and CS3. I gave the HD concept the name 'superhero' to give the camera an ultra performance identity as much of the action captured by it would be 'superhuman'. The idea behind the updated logo was to introduce an 'audio visual' brand element that could work as a sign off to the logo or on its own. The pack concept uses zero plastic is recyclable and re-usable as carry case. For more on GoPro cameras and myself

La Gina tinned tomatoes

Is not often I get excited by tinned tomatoes but these packs from La Gina are great. They remind me of fruit box labels from the 50s. The illustrations of tomatoes are really well done and standout well on the simple background. I'm not sure who designed the packs?
